Unit 1 – Prayer (September – May)

Obstacles to prayer – types of meditative & contemplative prayer – Lectio Divina – Liturgy of the Hours – leading a prayer service – the Living Rosary – grade 12 Mass – meditation on the Passion - Stations of the Cross – Rosary pilgrimage – Litany of Loreto – Grade 12 retreat

Unit 2 – Catholic Anthropology (September – October)

Personal Identity - influenced by faith, family, major events, media
Catholic Anthropology - Image of God as individuals and in relationships, body and soul, intellect and will, Child of God, original sin
Contrast Catholic anthropology with contradictory anthropology e.g., secularism, New Atheism, materialism, consumerism

Unit 3 – Christology - Gospel of John (November - January)

Catholic approaches to scripture - typology, literal and spiritual senses of scripture etc.
Biblical Fundamentalism
Christology - the person and natures of Jesus
Gospel of John - key Christological ideas - "I AM" statements, Jesus as the fulfillment of the covenant / servant / sacrament / the Paschal Mystery

Unit 4 – Vocations (February - March)

Vocations - four states of life, chastity, universal call to holiness
Discernment and charisms, profession
Sacrament of Marriage - the four F's; alternative committed relationships; divorce vs annulment; the two-fold purpose of marital union; Natural Family Planning

Unit 5 – Evangelization (April – May)

The Kingdom of God - the Beatitudes, Biblical metaphors e.g., pearl of great price
The Great Commission - contemporary dilemmas compromising the dignity of the human person
