The primary focus of the STA Parent Association is to strengthen our school community by supporting annual events at STA. We achieve this by working to connect connect students, parents, teachers and staff throughout school year. The Parent Association is also involved in initiatives that raise funds for the improvement of our school and the enhancement of student extracurricular activities.
All STA parents are welcome at monthly meetings to assist with planning and decision-making for PA initiatives that directly benefit STA students. Parents that volunteer with the PA can also coordinate or assist at PA events, and earn credit hours in the process.
Members of the PA include:

PA supported events and initiatives are only successful with the help of STA parent volunteers.

FULL-TIME POSITIONS (6-9 hours/month)
Saints STAtion Store Coordinator (year round)
The STA Store is run with the assistance of a PA coordinator.The coordinator assists the STA office with the day to day ordering and managing of the store.
School Bucks Program (year round)
The STA School Bucks Program is run by a PA coordinator and generates funds through gift card sales. The coordinator oversees the organization of the program, and funds generated are directed back to the school.
PART-TIME POSITIONS (3 hours/month)
Used Uniform Coordinator (year round)
STA Used Uniform Sales in the Saints STAtion Store are coordinated by a PA volunteer and generate funds through these sales.The coordinator oversees the collection, cleaning and advertising of items for sale.
STA Talks Coordinator (year round – hours vary)
The STA Talks Coordinator works to organize speakers for the STA community on a variety of topics.The hours for this position vary based on the time needed to secure speakers and organize the event.
DAYTIME POSITIONS
Annual STA Walkathon (October)
The PA assists the school with the annual walkathon by organizing parent volunteers who act as crossing guards, walkers on the route and helpers at the school. This is an opportunity for the parents to assist with keeping our students safe and providing lunch to all walkers. Event requires:
1 Coordinator (5-6 hours to oversee event - detailed guidelines provided)
30-35 Volunteers (4 hours/volunteer to assist as crossing guards/walkers or helpers at bbq)
Christmas Poinsettia Sale (November)
The PA organizes an annual poinsettia and Christmas wreath sale to generate supplementary funds. The funds are used to enhance student school and extracurricular activities. Event requires:
1 Coordinator (6-8 hours to oversee event - detailed guidelines provided)
2 Volunteers (2 hours/volunteer to assist with plants on pick up day)
Grade 9 Immunizations (January)
The PA assists with organizing and supervising students at the grade 9 immunization clinic. Event requires:
1 Coordinator (3 hours to oversee event - detailed guidelines provided)
3 Volunteers (2 hours/volunteer to assist with supervision of students during clinic)
Spring Garden Sale (May)
The PA organizes an annual spring plant sale to generate supplementary funds. The funds are used to enhance student school and extracurricular activities.
1 Coordinator (6-8 hours to oversee event - detailed guidelines provided)
2 Volunteers (2 hours/volunteer to assist with plants on pick up day)
Grad Mass Reception (June)
The Grad Mass Reception takes place after the grade 12 school graduation Mass. The PA provides the funds for the refreshments and decorations for this event. It is organized by two parent coordinators and grade 11 parents are asked to volunteer at this event. Event requires:

Volunteers (3 hours/volunteer to assist with set-up, serving & clean-up of reception)
EVENING POSITIONS
Grade 12 Parent Meeting (September)
The PA provides refreshments for grade 12 parents at this meeting. It offers the parents an opportunity to socialize with other parents who have a student graduating in the upcoming year. Event requires:
1 Coordinator (4-5 hours to oversee event - detailed guidelines provided)
2 Volunteers (3 hours/volunteer to assist with serving & clean-up of refreshments at event)
Christmas Band Concert (December)
The PA provides refreshments during intermission at the annual band Christmas Concert. It offers parents and families with an opportunity to socialize while enjoying some Christmas entertainment. Event requires:
1 Coordinator (5-6 hours to oversee event - detailed guidelines provided)
2 Volunteers (3 hours/volunteer to assist with serving & clean-up of refreshments at event)
Christmas Fine Arts Evening (December)
The PA provides refreshments during the annual Fine Arts evening which showcases students’ work in drama and art. It offers parents and families with an opportunity to socialize while enjoying visual works created by the students. Event requires:
1 Coordinator (5-6 hours to oversee event - detailed guidelines provided)
2 Volunteers (3 hours/volunteer to assist with serving & clean-up of refreshments at event)
STA Open House (February)
This evening offers an opportunity to explain the role of the PA to new parents and promote their involvement through PA volunteer positions. The PA provides light refreshments for families attending the STA open house. Event requires:
1 Coordinator (4-6 hours to oversee event - detailed guidelines provided)
2 Volunteers (3 hours/volunteer to assist with serving & clean-up of refreshments at event)
New Parent/Family Night (May)
The PA provides refreshments for all new families/parents attending this informational evening. It offers the PA an opportunity to welcome new families to our school community. Event requires:
1 Coordinator (4 hours to oversee event - detailed guidelines provided)
1 Volunteers (2 hours/volunteer to assist with serving & clean-up of refreshments at event)
Spring Fine Arts Evening (June)
The PA provides refreshments during the annual end of year Fine Arts evening which showcases students’ work in drama and art. It offers parents and families with an opportunity to socialize while viewing student art work. Event requires
1 Coordinator (4-6hours to oversee event - detailed guidelines provided)
2 Volunteers (3 hours/volunteer to assist with serving & clean-up of refreshments at event)

Through their support at school events, the STA PA offers parents the opportunity to volunteer thereby creating involvement and support of the school community.
The STA PA is responsible for creating these volunteer positions and tracking parent volunteer hours so that parents can accumulate hours for parent participation credits.
Parent participation credits earn parents a reduction in their monthly participation fees.
6 HOURS = 1 MONTH CREDIT FOR 1 STUDENT = $65
9 HOURS = 1 MONTH CREDIT FOR 2 OR MORE STUDENTS = $100
Hours can be accumulated over more than one month and credit will be awarded to families monthly or after reaching 6 hours (or 9 hours).

The PA supports graduating students annually by awarding:
- Two Grade 12 bursaries

Watch for announcements regarding collection dates in September & June. Please have students drop off items at the school store and please ensure all donations have been washed.
Any items that are donated but cannot be resold are donated to a charity overseas.
