The STA Chess Club was founded in 2015 by (Ryan) JingXiang Mo and Jakub Kosel, two chess enthusiasts in their Grade 8 year. In 2016, chess club gained official support in the form of Mr. Max Friesen, as well as the previous administrator, Graydon Baker. The STA Chess Club is now in its 7th year, and while having lost both Jakub and Mr. Friesen, is still going strong, with teacher support from Mr. Flores.
