From March 15th to March 27th, a group of 25 Gr. 11 & 12 students, along with our school chaplain Fr. Giovanni and staff chaperones, traveled to the Philippines. Spending their days in Tacloban and Cebu City with the Salesian Order of St. Don Bosco, the students visited many of their sites and projects, including the Liloan of Lourdes’ Parish Feeding Centre, the Magone Boys’ Home, and the Pasil Youth Centre, located in the middle of the Pasil slum. The students not only donated monetary and “Balikbayan Box” donations, they also simply spent time getting to know the Filipino culture through the people. They learnt about their lives, their struggles, the way they saw poverty, and how the Salesian order is constantly bringing Christ’s hope and love to everyone that falls under their care.
